From June 22 to 24, 2020, the 2020 Development Forum for Management Science and Engineering and a series of high-end forums on the 40th anniversary of the School of Economics and Management of Xidian University were successfully held in the School of Economics and Management of Xidian University, in order to further promote the development of Management Science and Engineering, facilitate academic exchanges and cooperation among all parties, and build a domestic first-class scientific research and high-level compound talent training base. The meeting was held at the same time as "online and offline" for three days, during which 16 academic lectures were made. A total of nearly 500 teachers and students from colleges and universities in China attended the Forum to talk about hot topics and share the academic feast.

On the morning of June 22, the opening ceremony of the Forum was held in the Academic Lecture Hall (324), Area II, Xinyuan Building, South Campus. Shi Feng, Vice President of Xidian University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. On behalf of the University, he expressed his sincere welcome to all the leaders, experts, scholars, teachers and students who participated in this activity, and extended his heartfelt thanks to all those who have long cared about and supported the discipline construction and development of the University and the School of Economics and Management. He mentioned that at present, the University is in the crucial period of exploring and building a first-class specialized university and first-class discipline in China, and has made concerted efforts to go all out, innovate ideas, overcome difficulties, and implement plans firmly. Since its establishment in 1980, School of Economics and Management has achieved a number of important research results in the field of economics and management after 40 years of construction, relying on the advantages of the information and electronic discipline platform of the University. He expressed the hope that the School should, closely focused on the strategic planning of the University and combined with the reality of the School, hold more academic development forums, and rely on the advantages of the characteristic platform in the field of electronic information disciplines of the University to strengthen the connotation construction of the School with a broad vision and innovative thinking, so as to achieve a new leap in the comprehensive strength of the School.
Professor Wang Shouyang, Honorary Dean of School of Economics and Management, Xidian University and Dean of School of Economics and Management, Chinese Academy of Sciences, highly affirmed the students of Xidian University through the online platform, told the origin relations between him and Xidian University, and cited the innovations and honors of many well-known alumni as example. He also took his own students as an example to talk about the strength and potential of talent education and discipline development in the School of Economics and Management, Xidian University. He called on all teachers and students of the School to welcome the fifth round of first-tier discipline assessment with self-confidence and positive attitude, fully summarize their advantages and strive for good results. He hoped that a number of excellent academic achievements can be stimulated and produced, to provide more innovative thinking and practical methods for the economic construction and social development in China.
Finally, focused on Management Science and Engineering of the School, Professor Du Rong described in detail its development process, teaching staff, platform advantages, academic research achievements, etc. After the opening ceremony, 16 experts gave keynote speeches at the sub-meetings. The sub-meetings were presided over by Professor Du Rong, Head of Management Science and Engineering of the School of Economics and Management, Professor Chai Jian, Associate Dean, and Professor Chen Xi, Head of the Department of Management Engineering respectively.
16 keynote speeches, focused on the construction and development of Management Science and Engineering, were given to discuss the challenges faced by Management Science and Engineering in the new era and under new infrastructure construction, explore the new direction of development, and study block chain finance, data intelligence, subject teaching methods and models, etc. By virtue of this Forum, scholars have experienced the interpretation of academic bigwigs on new era and new situation without leaving home, and their enthusiasms have been ignited for academic research by exploring and finding research direction constantly.

On the June 24, the closing ceremony was held, marking the end of the three-day academic forum in a satisfactory way. After the end of the Forum, many teachers and students responded that it was not easy to hold academic forums through the "online + offline" mode during the epidemic, but it was very smooth in the whole process. It was because of "online video" that more people could participate in the Forum without geographical restrictions, and more teachers and students could be inspired to listen and express their opinions and suggestions, benefiting more researchers.
Through this Forum, it can not only broaden the academic horizons of teachers and students and stimulate research vitality, but also certainly promote the development of Management Science and Engineering, so as to provide more innovative thinking and practical methods for building a domestic first-class scientific research and high-level compound talent training base. Since the year 2020 is the 40th anniversary of the founding of the School of Economics and Management and it is also an important year for the fifth round of first-tier discipline assessment, it is hoped that we can, focused on discipline construction and adhering to problem-orientated and targeted principles, constantly gather strength, make concentrated efforts and strive to catch up, to make greater progress.
