Carl Mitcham is Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at Colorado School of Mines, where he taught the ethics of scientific research and engineering and Visiting International Professor of Philosophy of Technology at Renmin University of China. His publications include Thinking through Technology: The Path between Engineering and Philosophy (1994) and Steps toward a Philosophy of Engineering: Historico-Philosophical and Critical Essays (2020).

课程简介（中英文）：从科技哲学视角反思人工智能时代的社会问题，尤其是人类与智能机器互动所产生的哲学、伦理以及社会问题。自近代科学兴起以来，人类就试图创造具有人类特征的机器人，从而理解生命、意识与灵魂的本质。而现在，人工智能技术的发展已经使人类意识到，人类未来社会必然是与人工智能共同生存、协同进化的社会，但这种社会中也将存在着棘手的哲学、伦理与社会问题。本课程将从科技哲学理论出发探讨这些问题。

（To reflect on the social problems in the era of artificial intelligence from the perspective of the philosophy of science and technology, especially the philosophical, ethical and social problems arising from the interaction between human beings and intelligent machines. Since the rise of modern science, humans have tried to create robots with human traits in order to understand the nature of life, consciousness and the soul. Now, with the development of artificial intelligence, people have realized that we are bound to co-exist and co-evolve with artificial intelligence in the future, which will also lead to thorny philosophical, ethical and social problems. This course will explore these issues from the perspective of philosophy of science and technology.）
