(Reported by Wu Zixuan)7PM on September 13, 2020, at the invitation of the Associate Professor Wang Chenglai, the dean of the Faculty of Arts, School of Humanities and Arts, Xidian University, Professor Thorsten WiegertfromThe University of the Arts Berlin, gave an online lecture themed "Music and technology, Arts and Science, Theory and Practice" to teachers and students of the Faculty of Arts. Associate Professor Wang Chenglai presided over this lecture.Xu Zhaocheng and Wang Hui attended the lecture as well.

Professor Wiegert’sresearch wasfocused on classical music production, Albums production, surround sound and 3Dsound, surround sound recording, stereo mixing, music performance practice, etc. Professor Wiegertgaveeveryone many directions and practical skills during the lecture, in which students understoodthetheory of music recording technology and practicecomprehensively.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Wiegert introduced the development and course design of the tonmeistersubject at The University of the Arts Berlin. The professor said that the subject of tonmeister subject combines Engineering and Musicology, with many different courses and musical directions.

Secondly, during the introduction of undergraduate and graduate courses, Professor Wiegert emphasized the importance of practice for recording technology. All the teachers and students expressed agreement with the professor.

Professor Wiegert had placed great expectations on our students. He made a hope of the subject of Recording Art in Xidian University would become better and better, the friendship between two universities wouldbecome more and more profound. Associate Professor Wang Chenglai made a summary speech based on the lecture. Professor Wang sincerely invited Professor Thorsten Wiegert to give a series lecture in XidianUniversity,and wished the two universitieswould cooperate hand in hand.
