The Working Conference on 2023 International Cooperation and Exchanges& Seminar on Platforms for International Cooperation was held in the B101 lecture hall of the South Campus Conference Center on the afternoon of March 6th. Zhang Jincheng, Vice President of Xidian University, leading officials from Evaluations and AssessmentsOffice, Development& Planning Office/Double World-class ProjectOffice, Undergraduate School (Academy), Graduate School, Scientific Research Institute, Personnel Department, Talent Office, Planning and Financial Department, and Center of Journal Publication, deans of foreign affairs in each school, foreign affairs officers, directors of platforms for international cooperation at national, provincial, municipal and school levels, teacher representatives, and staff of Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Guo Tong, ViceDirector of Department of International Exchanges.
Chen Huilin, Vice Director General of Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges and Dean of School of International Education, first made a work report oninternational cooperation and exchanges. In the report, he summarized the progress of internationalization in 2022, presented the key tasks of international cooperation and exchanges in 2023, and comprehensively introduced various projects and platforms for international cooperation and exchanges.
Guo Tong reported on building upXidian’s international cooperation platforms.Shereviewed the achievements made by the platforms in gathering overseas talents, deepening academic exchanges, promoting scientific research cooperation and cultivating top-notch innovative talents, analyzed the problems existing in building up the platforms, and put forward the next key work and measures on giving full play to the role of the platforms.
Professor Gu Huaxi, Vice Dean of School of Telecommunications Engineering, Associate Professor Zhang Haofrom International Cooperation Base, Professor Ding Jinshan, Dean of School of Electronic Engineering, and Professor Zhu Shouping, Vice Deanof School of Life Science and Technology on behalf of teacher teams, international cooperation platforms and schools, shared their experience and actionsin international cooperation and exchange, providing useful lessons for each office to carry out work in combination with its own discipline development features. Leading officials from Evaluations and Assessments Office, Development & Planning Office/Double World-class Project Office, Undergraduate School (Academy), Scientific Research Institute, Personnel Department, Talent Office and other departments conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions of international cooperation in the aspects of teaching, scientific research, personnel and talents, evaluations and assessments, and discipline construction.
Finally, Zhang Jincheng, Vice President of Xidian made a concluding speech. He said that international cooperation and exchangesis the essence and requirement of the “double world-class project”for higher education. In recent years, Xidian has made certain achievements in international cooperation and exchanges, but there is still a big gap in comparison with others. Xidian should forge consensus to attach great importance to international strategy and to integrate internationalization into the whole running process. As for the next step, he pointed out that we should improve weak links as soon as possible and vigorously carry out all staff internationalization and internationalization at home to promote international cooperation and exchanges into a new stage of high-level development. At the same time, internationalization should adhere to serving the national strategy and the overall diplomatic situation, serving the Belt and Road Initiative and creatively planning high-quality projects. All the offices, teaching and scientific research units should fully understand the importance of internationalization, further enhance the sense of urgency and mission, strengthen the cooperative working mechanism, gather working force, and further promote the high-quality development of internalization.
