The 5th International Conference on Intelligent Science (ICIS2022) was successfully held online on October 28 to 31. It is co-sponsored by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and China Chapter under International Society for Information Studies, and hosted by Xidian University. The conference brought together experts and scholars in the field of artificial intelligence from all over the world. They jointly discussed intelligence and related technologies regarding the frontiers of brain science, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence. A total of 6,335 people watchedthe conference online.

The General Chairs of the conference were Professor Zhong Yixin of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (Academician of the New York Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Engineering and Technology for the Developing World), Professor David B. Leake of Indiana University, and Professor Jiao Licheng of Xidian University (Foreign Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, IEEE Fellow). Shi Zhongzhi, (Director of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) Professor JinYaochu of the University of Surrey (Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, IEEE Fellow), and Professor Zhang Xiangrong of Xidian University served as the program committee chairs. Professor Hou Biao, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Executive Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence of Xidian University, presided over the opening ceremony; Professor Jiao Licheng and Shi Zhongzhi delivered opening speeches for the conference. The keynote speeches and invited speeches were presided over by Shi Zhongzhi and Prof. Zhang Xiangrong.

The scholars generously shared their thoughts. Professor Helge Ritter of the Neuroinformatics Group of Bielefeld University, Professor Jiao Licheng and Professor Zhang Xiangrong of Xidian University gave keynote speeches at the conference. Professor Yao Xin of Southern University of Science and Technology (IEEE Fellow), Professor Shi Guangming of Xidian University (IEEE Fellow, Deputy Director of Pengcheng Laboratory), Professor Sun Fuchun of Tsinghua University (IEEE Fellow), Shi Zhongzhi of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Zhou Huiyu of the University of Leicester gave invited reports.

In addition, the conference set up five Plenary Sessions, including Brain Cognition & Language Cognition, Machine Learning, Data Intelligence & Medical Artificial Intelligence and Wireless Sensors, Perceptual Intelligence, and Remote Sensing Images. Researchers and students in related fields exchanged their academic results in each live venue.
