On December 7, the Ministry of Education of China, and the National Commission of China for UNESCO co-organized with UNESCO an online edition of the International Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Education on under the themeEnsuring AI as a Common Good to Transform Education. Representatives from nearly 50 countries including ministers and vice ministers of 15 countries, representatives of international institutions, experts, scholars and enterprises attended the meeting. Minister of Education of China HUAI Jinpeng attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Vice Minister of Education of China TIAN Xuejun presided over the opening ceremony. Professor Wang Quan, the vice president of Xidian University, attended the meeting and delivered a speech in session 5 ofPromoting the use of AI in Africa: Build the partnership.

Professor WANG Quan introduced Xidian's measures to unite multiple universities to form an "artificial intelligence +" eMOOC alliance. He pointed out that Xidian would create alearnable and reproducible online and overseas education innovation model based on its superior disciplines and local needs of talents in Africa. Xidian hopes to expand exchanges and deepen cooperation though the eMOOC platform with partners from all over the world.

This is the first international forum since the UNESCO adoptedthe Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligenceand other significant Strategies on the field of artificial intelligence. Xidian’s invitation to participate the forum reflects its reputation in the international community in the field of artificial intelligence and education, as well as the achievements in expanding educational cooperation and exchanges with African countries and boosting African social and economic development.
