Q:1. Why does Xidian University Initiate the International Weeks Program?
A: We would like to, through a varietyof international innovation and entrepreneurship activities, provide students with diversified overseas exchange paths that broaden students' global horizons, while meeting their needs for international learning and development. In addition, it will help improve students' global competence, while enhancing the international education level of our university.
Xidian International Weeks (July 1 - July 14, 2019) falls in regular schooling calendar. It is not holiday or after-school hours. Consequently, students are required to strictly follow the schooling calendar and complete relevant learning requirements according to the teaching plan and activity arrangement.
Q: 2. Who are required to attend the activities or courses of the Xidian International Weeks?
A: All students are required to attend the activities or courses of the Week except for junior students who are in their internship and seniors.
Q: 3. Which module of the training program of the 2018 edition and the 2016 edition does the 76 overseas courses and the 35 innovation and entrepreneurship courses by enterprises correspond to?
A: Corresponding to selective courses of general education, students of the Class 2022 must take courses related to internationalization or innovation and entrepreneurship courses by enterprises; corresponding to selective courses, students of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 are recommended to take courses given by foreign experts or innovation and entrepreneurship courses given by enterprises.
Q: 4.Which platform is used for course selection? Are there clear instructions as how to do course selection of the International Weeks?
A: Courses are selected in the educational administration system of the 2018 edition. At present, the course titles have been announced.Curriculum or Course introductions and lecturers will be announced later, together with the guide for course selection.
Q: 5. When does course selection start? What are the guidelines?
A: According to the schedule, course selection is from June 29 to June 30. Because of class size, early bird rule will be adopted (A course selection notice and guide will be offered before the selection).
Q: 6. How will the workload of teachers be credited (including teaching assistants of foreign experts and teachers in charge of course introductions)?
A: The workload of teachers (including teaching assistants of foreign experts and teachers in charge of course introduction) of our university shall be determined according to theImplementation Measures for the Program on Recruiting Overseas Experts to Teach Undergraduates During the Xidian International Weeks(doc.No. 17 [2019]).
Q: 7.Will the service like water and electricity supply for dormitory be normal during the Xidian International Weeks?
A: Yes. The Xidian International Weeks 2019 belongs to regular school days, so the service like water and electricity supply for dormitory will be normal.
Q: 8. Does the University provide accommodation during the time? Are dormitories open?
A: Yes. The Xidian International Weeks Program belongs to regular school days (the summer vacation begins on July 15). Therefore, the dormitories are open as usual.
During the English Summer Camp Program(July 29 - August 16), dormitories will be open, and the service like water and electricity will be provided normally (except for the days for overhaul).
Q: 9. Are general education courses compulsory or selective?
A: They are selective.
Q: 10.Is the course provided in the English Summer Camp Programcompulsory or selective?
A: The course is recognized as a selective course. Those who have completed and passed the examination will be recognized with 2 general course credits and conferred a certificate of completion.
Q: 11. If the time for attending courses during the Xidian International Weeks overlaps participation in other activities, is it allowed to take 1-2 days off (including the courses in the English Summer Camp Program)?
A: It is NOT allowed. The course assessment for the Xidian International Weeks is consistent with other courses in the training program, which should be strictly conducted in accordance with curriculum arrangement and requirements.
Q: 12. Will the courses of the Xidian International Weeks be part of summer Internship?
A: No. Courses offered during the Weeks (including the English Summer Camp Program) are selective courses and cannot be recognized as a part of the summer Internship.
Q: 13. Are international students required to participate in activities or courses of the Xidian International Weeks?
A: Yes.
Q: 14. Where and how the information about lectures given by foreign experts canbe obtained? What procedures should students follow to attend the lectures?
A: Each school organizes its own students to attend lectures given by foreign experts. For detailed information regarding the lectures, please refer to the notice released by each school and on our university' official website.
