Hangzhou Institute of Technology of XidianUniversity(hereinafter referred to as the Institute)is a new industry-education integration platform jointly built byXidian University andXiaoshan District for coordinated development ofthe government, universityand enterprises. Itis establishedbased on therequirements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on deepening the reform and deployment of industry-education integration. The Instituteacceleratesthe reform and development of postgraduate education in the new centuryfollowing the conception ofthe Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission,and the Ministry of Finance.Itgivesfull play to the advantages of XDU’selectronics and information disciplines, and takesthe initiative to serve the development of the Yangtze River Delta region.Located intheXiaoshanInnovation Polis, Hangzhou,the campus hasa planned area ofapproximately 100 acres, witha greatlocation and pleasant environment.
The Institute gathers high-level talents and aims for advanced scientific research, high-quality achievements transformation, and top talent training. It integrates Hangzhou's advantages of being the forefront of national economic development, outstanding geographical location, and leading scientific & technological innovation vitality. Moreover, the city boasts numerous electronic and information industries, and has developed private economy. Based on this, the Institute innovates the system and mechanism, optimizes development elements, focuses on national major needs, and builds strategic scientific and technological forces. It takes talents as the driving force for development, enhances development through innovation, and seeks development through contribution. We strive for higher level of scientific and technological self-reliance for the country, better economic and social development of the Yangtze River Delta region, and faster construction of XDU into a first-class university.
At present, Hangzhou Institute of Technology has 12 laboratories and 4 innovation centers, focusing on scientific research and discipline construction. Guided by industrial digitalization and digital industrialization, the Institute implements the“543”digital economy development plan—five alliances (such as smart vehicles, integrated circuits, and smart medicine), four platforms (such as general radar and industrial software), and three services (such as talent services, technical services and education services). The objective is to connect innovation chain and industrial chain, accelerate the core technology breakthrough and scientific research achievements transformation, and cultivate high-level technical talents for the country and regions.
Currently the Institute has 72 teachers (including 23 from Xidian University), 202 postgraduate advisors, and 268 more advisors from enterprises. There arealtogether1240 postgraduate students, including masters in their senior years and PhD students. Since its establishment in March 2021, the Institute has been approved as a provincial-level postdoctoral workstation. More than 30 postdoctors have been introduced, and 13 postdoctors enrolled to conduct their research here. One academician workstation has been approved, and six academicians have been flexibly introduced. As a provincial new research and development institution, the Institute has applied for one talent innovation drive center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and completed the application for talent recognition of 42 faculty members. So far, 164 scientific research contracts and agreements have been signed, and 17 university-enterprise joint laboratories have been established (data deadline: October 31, 2022).
In the future, the Institute willintegratecloselywiththe industrial development of Xiaoshan Districtandadhere to the “industrypluseducation”cultivation mode. The priority will be given todisciplineplan,faculty development,talentcultivation, andacademicecology. Itfocuseson the needs of high-level applied talents in XiaoshanDistrict, Zhejiangprovinceandbeyondin the areas ofindustrial Internet, intelligent automobile electronics, intelligent medical care, advanced information technology, andICindustries. It strives to buildan“electronic information+” innovation highland, improve the “linkage” and “cohesion”ofhigh-end talents, scientific&technological innovation and industrial ecology,and become asource of innovationto boost the development ofindustrial cluster.
