Information Security Department

Information Security Department is a department established based on the major of information security. Information security is a cross major involving computer, communication, mathematics and other majors. Our University is one of the first universities in China to set up an information security major. This major is one of the 15 second-class characteristic majors (i.e. majors in need of talents) of information security established by the Ministry of Education across the country, and is also one of the first batches of well-known majors in Shaanxi Province. Currently, Information Security Department has 34 teachers, including 7 professors and 15 associate professors.

Since the 1960s, under the leadership of Academician Chen Taiyi, Professor Xiao Guozhen, Professor Wang Yumin, Professor Wang Xinmei and other experts and professors famous at home and abroad, our University has carried out research and talent training in the field of cryptography and become one of the earliest units conducting research in related field in China. The cryptography and information security talents cultivated by the University are all over domestic universities, scientific research institutions, enterprises and government agencies，bringing the University a very high reputation in the field of information security at home and abroad. Information Security Department has strong faculty, with a state-level teaching team for "information security", a provincial-level teaching team for "cryptography", and the only innovation team of the Ministry of Education in the field of information security, equipped with advanced teaching experiment instruments and equipment as well as a complete information security experimental environment.

Network Engineering Department

Network Engineering Department is a department established based on the major of network engineering. The predecessor of network engineering major was the "computer network and communication" direction of computer major. Our University is one of the first colleges and universities to establish a computer major. This major is a national second-class characteristic major construction site. It is the first network engineering major in the country to receive certification. It is also the first major in the country to be certified after the new national engineering education certification standard was determined in 2015, and one of the first batch of the nation's "Excellent Engineering Education Training Program" pilot majors. At present, there are 24 teachers in network engineering, including 4 professors and 15 associate professors.

With the continuous advancement of network technology, network engineering has developed into a new interdiscipline combined by computer technology, communication technology and engineering technology, cloud computing and big data have become the mainstream network service models, and talents in network engineering, cloud computing, big data and related security fields are urgently needed in national informatization construction. This major ranks in the forefront of the country. In the construction of the faculty, there is the only innovation team of the Ministry of Education in the field of network information security in China, specially-appointed professors of the Yangtze River Scholar Program of the Ministry of Education, national candidates for the "New Century Talents Project", members of the Expert Committee on Discipline Construction and Major Setup of the Ministry of Education, and other outstanding talents. The department has built a computer network and Internet of Things engineering experimental teaching demonstration center and has a Shaanxi provincial teaching team of "Network Engineering Excellence Program Core Curriculum System", equipped with advanced teaching experimental instruments and equipment and a complete computer network and system security experimental environment. Computer network and related security have become an indispensable key link in the information-based society, and are in strong demand in the job market.
